The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport was selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation to be awarded a $500,000 Grant funded under the Small Community Air Service Development Program. Kalamazoo County will use this grant to recruit non-stop service to Atlanta, GA. Discussions will continue with Delta Airlines for a flight to their Atlanta hub. Atlanta service would improve connections to 3 of the airport's top 5 destinations along with the entire southeast region.
The project will enhance regional economic development and tourism efforts, and will provide material benefits to the more than one half million people, including business travelers, families, and college students.
A maximum of 40 grants are awarded each year. The U.S. Congress sets the funding for this program.
Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is committed to providing safe, efficient, and affordable air transportation for the businesses and residents of Southwest Michigan.
